Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Sleep is vital for body health, emotional stability, brain activities, daily performance, and pain regulation .the poor regulation of pain can cause chronic pain, and sleep problems as well.

Objectives: The current experiment observes

of sleep deprivation (SD) on pain and inflammatory mediator in tempromandibular joint disorder( TMD ) versus knee.

Methods: The experiment was done on thirty Albino rats, Rats were randomly divided into two equal groups, one of which was a chronic sleep deprived group (CSD), and the other was control group both group was kept in cage but in the same conditions of food and water accessibility. Rats of CSD group were exposed to CSD using the modified multiple platform method (MMPM) 16 hours per day for 4 weeks. Synovial fluid aspiration of TMJ and knee joint collected to assess pain and inflammatory mediators

Results: TMJ is affected by CSD despite there is no physical stress upon TMJ joint like knee .

conculosion :CSD causes increase inflammatory and pain mediators in TMJ and knee.

Key words: chronic sleep deprivation ,tempromandibular joint , knee joint and inflammatory mediators.
